Ice House Comedy Club in Pasadena and Westside Comedy Theater in Santa Monica are both outside the Hollywood comedy core but serve very different audiences. Ice House at 24 North Mentor Ave is a legendary stand-up club — intimate, historic, and universally loved by performers. Westside Comedy Theater on the 3rd Street Promenade is an improv and sketch venue — creative, collaborative, and oriented toward emerging performers. Ice House offers stand-up at its most refined. Westside offers comedy at its most spontaneous. Both are excellent reasons to skip the Hollywood clubs.
