As a passionate advocate for veterans, he created the GIs of Comedy Tour, a prominent all-veteran troupe performing globally to share the healing power of laughter with service members and civilians alike. Her highly unique comedy style blends sharp art history jokes, message-driven political satire, and dark romantic comedy that playfully explores Asian stereotypes, global geopolitics, and "Korean shame." Merging the worlds of fine art and standup, her highest performance credits include her acclaimed solo touring showcase MJ's Hour: K-Comedy Art Activism at institutions like Whitman College, as well as performing in and producing major peace-building cultural events for the AHL Foundation, KODA NY, and the series Stand Up NY Presents: K-Comedy Night. As a scholar and creative visionary who has mounted major retrospectives and authored books like Shamanism + Cyberspace, she uses her platform to beautifully bridge the gap between socio-political activism and the healing power of laughter.
